Interesting HR Books

My favorite books are about leadership.  While many managers study leadership in a broader context, it can be difficult to determine how the leader in the book might respond to the specific management challenge he or she faces in the moment.  In that regard, two of my favorite books for managers are The Situational Leader by Dr. Paul Hersey and The One Minute Manager by Kenneth Blanchard.  Studying Situational Leadership is a great way for managers to learn how to manage in the moment, with a response that is appropriate to the individual.  I also enjoyed The Answer to How is Yes: Acting on What Matters by Peter Block.  Block says, “Understanding that the task is to shift the demand for the right answer to the search for the right question.”
